Company Statement: Vale Simon Seppelt

Quality Wool is deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of our friend, colleague, and widely respected wool marketing representative, Simon Seppelt, at the weekend.

Simon was much loved within the Quality Wool family, the wider industry and his community, and we are utterly devastated by his loss.

He will be remembered fondly for his generosity, his dedication and commitment to the industry he loved and served so passionately, and his easy going nature and sense of humour which allowed him to strike up an instant rapport with colleagues and clients alike.

While he has been taken far too soon, Simon has left a remarkable legacy at Quality Wool not only through the people he touched along the way, but through his commitment to foster and mentor future generations of Australia’s sheep and wool industry.

Simon is survived by his wife Jo, son George and daughter Molly, and we wish to express our deepest condolences and support to the family during this trying time.

Aged 53, Simon had developed to become one of the company’s strong regional pillars over the last two decades, working through the Mid/Upper North and pastoral areas of South Australia and into New South Wales.

Based from Jamestown, he also was a significant contributor throughout the local sheep and wool industry and to the region’s communities.

Quality Wool Managing Director Mark Dyson said from a young age, Simon had been a heart and soul member of the industry and his inspiring passion and generous support across every level of the sector and to wider rural communities would be sadly missed.

Simon joined Quality Wool after earlier working as a jackaroo and station overseer throughout pastoral areas of SA, and later as a shearer and wool classer.

His hard‑working ethic continued with Quality Wool and his generosity and willingness to “lend a hand” to growers and industry colleagues, as well as in the community, was well recognised.

“He was a loyal, dedicated member of our team and had become a cornerstone of the Quality Wool business,” Mark said.

Mark said his passing had deeply affected the Quality Wool team and it would draw on its strength and support during this extremely difficult time, also through to the wider Quality Wool family and grower clients throughout the regions.

We would like to thank those from across the industry and wider Quality Wool business for their many messages of personal condolences, an indication of Simon’s standing in the rural sector and regional community.

Simon will be farewelled at St James Catholic Church, Jamestown, on Friday February 2nd at 1:30pm. The funeral will be followed by a wake at the Elsewhere Clay Target Club.
